Suggested Itineraries

Whether you have an hour or a full day to spend on our site, Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage suggests one of the following itineraries to maximize your visit. While we do recommend two-and-a-half to three hours for a typical visit, you can choose to focus on different highlights to meet your needs. 

 

In a Hurry – Less Than One Hour

Walk the grounds and see the outside of The Hermitage Mansion and Jackson’s tomb with a Grounds Pass, which also includes a discounted wine tasting at Natchez Hills Winery*. Be sure to download our audio tour so that you can listen–and keep learning–later!

Sprint to the Mansion – One-Hour Visit

  1. Tour The Hermitage Mansion.
  2. Walk through The Hermitage Garden and visit Rachel and Andrew Jackson’s tomb.
  3. Visit Alfred’s Cabin.
  4. Download our audio tour so that you can listen–and keep learning–later!
  5. Return to the Andrew Jackson Center and shop in our Museum Store to take home a memory. Be sure to visit Natchez Hills Winery for a discounted wine tasting*.

Walking the Grounds – Two-Hour Visit

  1. Watch Jackson, our film, and tour the exhibits in the Andrew Jackson Center.
  2. Tour The Hermitage Mansion.
  3. Listen to our audio tour so that you can learn more while walking the grounds.
  4. Walk through The Hermitage Garden and visit Rachel and Andrew Jackson’s tomb.
  5. Visit Alfred’s Cabin.
  6. Take The Hermitage Enslaved: A Wagon Tour and learn about the enslaved men, women, children and the archeological sites associated with their daily lives–a glimpse of The Hermitage from a truly unique perspective.
  7. Walk to and briefly tour the First Hermitage.
  8. Return to the Andrew Jackson Center and shop in our Museum Store to take home a memory. Be sure to visit Natchez Hills Winery for a discounted wine tasting*.

Stroll through History – Four-Hour Visit

  1. Watch Jackson, our film, and leisurely tour the exhibits in the Andrew Jackson Center.
  2. Tour The Hermitage Mansion.
  3. Listen to our audio tour so that you can learn more while walking the grounds.
  4. Walk through The Hermitage Garden and visit Rachel and Andrew Jackson’s tomb.
  5. Visit Alfred’s Cabin.
  6. Take The Hermitage Enslaved: A Wagon Tour and learn about the enslaved men, women, children and the archeological sites associated with their daily lives–a glimpse of The Hermitage from a truly unique perspective.
  7. Visit the First Hermitage and walk the Field Quarters Trail.
  8. Return from the Field Quarters through the nature trail and visit the Spring House.
  9. Stop by the Triplex and view the foundation remains.
  10. Return to the Andrew Jackson Center and shop in our Museum Store to take home a memory. Be sure to visit Natchez Hills Winery for a discounted wine tasting*.

VIP – Three-Hour Visit

  1. Take the VIP Tour for a 90-minute deep dive of Jackson history with an historic interpreter.
