Andrew Jackson, Prisoner of War
While several of our presidents have participated in military engagements, only one president in United States history has been held as a P.OW. Today, we bring you the story of Andrew Jackson, Prisoner of War.
Though he was a young teenager during the Revolutionary War, Andrew Jackson was still a participant in the fight against the British. His knowledge of the back-roads of the Carolinas made him the perfect messenger for the Patriot forces in the area. However, a war is a dangerous place for a teenager. At one point, Andrew Jackson’s acerbic tongue landed him in danger–and prison. Listen to find out how the future president went from Andrew Jackson, Messenger to Andrew Jackson, Prisoner of War.
