Jackson’s Library Card

Virtual Book Club

Readers ages 16 and older are invited to join Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage for a monthly virtual book club! Grab a snack and your favorite beverage and then log into Zoom for an hour-long meet-up with fellow readers. Discuss that month’s selection, ask questions and get to know that book on a deeper level. Meetings will happen the first Tuesday of the month.

Books will be chosen quarterly and will include historical and modern works in both fiction and nonfiction. This is a fun way to engage with fellow readers worldwide, all while remaining socially distant. We look forward to diving in with you!

This upcoming reading list includes:

April 6: The President’s Lady, by Irving Stone

May 4: Domesticating History: The Political Origins of America’s House Museums, Patricia West

June 1: Self-Reliance & Other Writings: Essays, First Series, 1841 by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Print copies are available inexpensively from most booksellers and through your local public library. Electronic sources include the OverDrive and Libby apps. Free audio versions can be accessed through Librivox.org.

July 6: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. Print copies are available inexpensively from most booksellers and through your local public library. Electronic sources include the OverDrive and Libby apps. Audio versions are available through providers such as Audible.com for a fee.
