Mr. Dickens is Coming to Nashville! The Hermitage is proud to present a lighthearted and varied look at the life and character of Charles Dickens. Featuring Mr. Gerald Dickens, great-great-grandson to the famous writer, the performance will highlight scenes from the great author’s works, diary extracts and observations from those who knew and worked with him. With its fresh and modern perspective, Mr. Dickens offers fans and novices alike a glimpse of the man behind the page.

A Dark & Stormy Night with Edgar Allan Poe
Join us for an evening of macabre and mystery with one of the Jacksonian Era’s premiere writers: Edgar Allan Poe. Sit fireside in our historic Cabin-by-the-Spring and hear Mr. Poe regale his audience with dramatic readings, both humorous and terrifying. Following the program, Mr. Poe will be available to mingle with guests and discuss his life and writings. Featuring renowned New England literary historian Mr. Rob Velella, this is a spellbinding performance not to be missed!

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with Washington Irving
Join us for an evening of spooky tales and conversation with Mr. Washington Irving! Sitting by the fireside, guests will hear Mr. Irving read one of his most famous stories, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” He will also share tales of his exciting life and the people he encountered, including mentoring writers like Edgar Allan Poe, as well as his travels through Indian Territory in Oklahoma during Jackson’s presidency. Following the program, guests will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with Mr. Irving.
Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance. Wine and beverages will be available for purchase. Present your event receipt at the ticket office for a $4 discount off general admission to Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage on the day of the event.
