History Uncorked: Women of The Cumberland Frontier

Euro-American settlement of the Cumberland frontier began in the 1780s with Kasper Mansker, Isaac Bledsoe, John Donelson and other well-known pioneers blazing trails westward from Virginia and North Carolina and establishing fortified settlements in what later became Middle Tennessee. While the adventures and exploits of these men have become things of legend, the very presence of the parties' female members is often forgotten.
