The holidays are a special time at the home of the 7th President. We invite you to join us for a full month of exciting and time-honored traditions…right here, in your community.

Holiday Mansion Tours

Daily November 23 thru December 31, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Enjoy your normal visit to the Hermitage with a special holiday spirit! Throughout the season, costumed staff will share additional stories of holiday traditions and celebrations while showcasing the added Christmas greenery and gifts spread throughout the Mansion.

Holiday and Harvest Carriage Tours

Fridays thru Sundays November 22 – December 22 (weather permitting) | Daily Tours December 23 – 29

10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30

Additional Ticket Required

Learn about the many holiday traditions that were observed by the families living at The Hermitage on the Holiday and Harvest Carriage Tours. Hot beverages will be available for purchase.

Tours are $12/person (children 5 and under ride free) and last approximately 30 minutes. Wagon tickets available for purchase at the ticket office.

Fireside with Father Christmas

Sundays, November 24 through December 22, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Enjoy storytime and songs with Father Christmas and his wife!

Sit at the fireside for a special reading of Clement Moore’s A Night Before Christmas and share some traditional holiday carols. Families will have a chance to meet and take photos with Father and Mother Christmas following the program. Programs will run every hour beginning at 11 a.m. (December 8 programs will begin at 1 p.m.)

Holiday Storytime

Saturdays, November 23 through December 21, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Sit by the fireside for an old-fashioned holiday storytime! Kids will get to enjoy a selection of classic stories to get into the holiday spirit. Programs last approximately 25-30 minutes and will run every hour beginning at 11 a.m.

Hanging of the Greens

Saturday and Sunday, November 23 and 24

Get into the holiday spirit as The Hermitage staff decorate the Presidential Mansion and surrounding buildings! Using traditional greenery and historic holiday displays, our expert gardens and curatorial teams will be working throughout the weekend, including exterior and interior spaces. Staff are happy to answer questions about the process and offer suggestions for your own holiday decorating.

Hermitage Holiday Cabin

Saturdays and Sundays, November 23 through December 22, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Families are invited to a special Hermitage Holiday Cabin where children and adults alike can get into the spirit of the season! Stop by to enjoy an interactive History of Chocolate station, write letters to Santa with a real quill pen, make a holiday card for the Troops, and craft your own Holiday Handmade to take home!
