Mansion Window Restoration Nears Completion
This summer marked a milestone for the Foundation’s preservation efforts. Phase One of the mansion’s window restoration was recently completed. All thirty-nine windows have been painstakingly repaired, and because of this work, we have been able to confirm that the large window sashes on the front and back of the mansion are original and in excellent condition for their age! However, the wing windows, which receive substantially more weather, had been replaced with more modern sashes. This fall, Phase Two and Phase Three of the project will take place, which includes interior and exterior window painting and the addition of storm windows for all thirty-nine windows.
Prior to this restoration project, no substantial work had been performed on the windows since 1969. We are grateful to the State of Tennessee, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, and several generous, private donors for whose generosity and vision made this restoration project a reality.
