Oh, What a Year! Hopes & Wishes for 2021
From the staff at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage
It is not new news that 2020 has been one tough year. From natural disasters that hit our area, including a tornado and a rare derecho, and COVID-19 and all that was brought on by the pandemic, this year has been one wrought with challenges of all kinds. Looking forward to the New Year and all the possibilities that it will bring, we asked our staff what they are most looking forward to in 2021.
Here is what we found out:
School groups on site enjoying the property and learning history!
—Patrick, Education
Excitement and energy fully returning to the site via more visitors, school field trips and group tours. A close second is being able to see out of my glasses again if and when masks are no longer required.
—Ray, Development
I am looking forward to traveling to see my grandchildren and to the day I can ditch the mask. But, will this mean I will need to shave every day?
—Greg, Executive Office
A Super Bowl championship.
A Stanley Cup.
A huge pool party with friends.
—Donna, Finance
Concerts and live music! I will never take living in Music City for granted again!
—Ashley, Memberships
The 200th anniversary of the completion of the 1821 version of the mansion.
—Bryan, Interpretation
I’m looking forward to having kids back on site and not worrying about whether I grabbed a mask on the way out of my house!
—Erin, Education
A year of no political ads on TV.
—Frank, Grounds
I’m hopeful for fewer Zoom meetings in 2021.
—Amy, Museum Operations
From all of us at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, may your New Year be filled with joy, health and prosperity.
Happy New Year!
