Staff Spotlight – Meredithe Hyjek

Every month, we introduce one of our amazing staff members and give more insight on what it’s like to work at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. This month, we are spotlighting Meredithe Hyjek, our Director of Events.

How long have you worked at The Hermitage?

  • I have worked at The Hermitage for 8 months.

Describe what you do in a few sentences.

  • I am responsible for the planning and execution of events. I work with a wide range of clients, from couples to corporations. I also plan and direct internal events for the Andrew Jackson Foundation, which includes board meetings and annual fundraisers, such as Gala and Spring Outing.

What is your favorite part about working at The Hermitage?

  • I love history and nature, and The Hermitage has an abundance of both! I enjoy providing venue tours to clients and sharing the history and beauty of our site.

What is one thing that has surprised you about working at The Hermitage?

  • The plentiful and varied wildlife here. I am out on the property frequently and am greeted by deer, turkeys, raccoons and even an owl!

What is one of your favorite hobbies?

  • I truly love to fish!
